Blogging Redux

Blogging after a long long time.A lot has changed in this two years in NITIE.I have changed, probably for the better.Wish I had continued blogging, all the incidents that have changed me were so fresh then but have turned into a one line moral now.Probably will try to recollect and relive them and write about them,so that they stay with me.So that I can revisit them whenever I feel like.But not today.Today I will continue with the feeling that prompted me to revisit my Blog.Twitter.
Someone inspired me to take twitter a little more seriously.So I tried.Again.
Yes, I had a Twitter account which had only 1 tweet and 10 followers, all dinosaurs like me.That tweet was done in a different decade altogether.Anyway being the MBA that I have become now, first thing I did was a  market survey.Searched the best twitter accounts that people follow, read and tried to comprehend what they post,how they post, why they post. Couldn't make any sense.It felt so redundant. In 140 characters only most of them are posting the exact same thing people post in FB.So I thought, what is the true purpose of twitter?It is for what kind of audience?Is there any rationale to actually spend my resources there?What would be the output?I really don't know.Probably I can voice my extreme honest views there which I generally avoid in Facebook.Or the really "gyan" stuff,most of the people does that only.Weird.Who actually has so much time to listen to someone else's "gyan" nowadays.
Anyway I felt right blogging instead. And blog I will.

My 46 month stint at IT is almost coming to an end.The journey has been an unique learning experience.Maybe the best thing that happened to me in this 4 years.Now am prepared for the worst.The latest of it came in the form of an eletter or rather an absence of it.My organization revised the salary structure of its employees effective from May but I was not eligible for the same because as per my Manager, the sbu(probably sub business unit,which my manager himself is not sure of) has decided not to revise the salary of people who have resigned.well well well.every other person who have resigned have got a revised salary,even a person who would be joining NITIE with me from my sbu has got a revised salary,but not me!!!Tangibly it hardly matters,probably a 10 k difference in compensation,but what about the gesture?Serving 4 years in an organization in the same project you expect a certain amount of courtesy.And I expect my manager/supervisor to fight it out for me,to help me get my worth,where as what I find is a tendency to ignore and bypass the whole issue.I certainly hope I dont become one of them when I get my turn.

My NITIE experience

The day before Interview, me,first_timer(Rito) and great_timer(Kaushik) roamed all around Mumbai and finally entered MDP block at night.Great place!!
We entered Admission block at 8:00 AM in the morning next day and my PI took place about 5:00 PM.
So you can imagine what was it like sitting there waiting for your turn,team IMPACT did their best to keep us entertained.

Brief Snapshot of Discussion: The topic was good but the discussion was horrible.Total fish market with 3/4 people not allowing anybody to speak.The lady sitting beside me kept on pushing me with her elbow.It was comic at times.I came up with few points but leaving the GD I felt very disappointed with the performance.Only good point I can think of is that I didnt contribute to the chaos and always kept a smiling face

that it.It was hardly a 5 min interview.

P.S : After the interview went out again to explore Mumbai.Came back at 2:00 AM at midnight.Had an argument with the security guard at the gate.Met some NITIE seniors and some chit chat followed.One awesome experince.

My MDI GD PI experience

I am superstitious

The night before I couldn't determine which shirt,trouser and tie combination to wear before the interview.

I learnt to tie a tie for this interview as my old unlucky tie had been too unlucky.

I have a problem of coming late.

So I reached PAN Asia Continental at 9:20 AM, wasting 200 bucks on taxi fare

I was tensed and to ease up the tension I started chatting with everyone sitting beside me in the crowded room.

GD topic was Corruption leads to Economic Growth

I stared the topic with the definition of the Corruption and how we can give points gainst and for the motion.

Made few entries,but thought the interviewers didnt register them,so made some more,I guess few points were decent few was fish marketish.Overall a ok performance.

Now the PI,Interviewers were an Old Prof (OP) and probably an Young Alumni (YA)

OP:What does Sayan mean?

Me: Told how its a bengali term which means a well constructed steps to a waterbody

OP:laughing,So all your life people will trample over you!!

Me:Tried to explain that I am the means to something useful

OP and YA : still very amused by my name kept on mentioning the same thing

OP:So people will use you to commit suicide?

Me:launging,said I dont think so

OP:So you are from Haldia,where did your father work?

Me: Told

Its been quite a while now I have been itching to write a review of my own,couldn't get a better movie - Inception.Directed by Christopher Nolan Inception is at its core a heist movie.DiCaprio stars as Cobb, a protector of ideas and dreams in an age where human beings can enter in each other's dreams.Not only that the dreams can be designed by a person called an Architect who creates a maze like pseudo reality,then there is the Morpher who can morph into any person in that dream and the operator who provides you with powerful sedatives so that you stay in your sleep long enough or to get out of the dream gives you a kick,which can be a particular event like a free fall or a song.To identify weather you are in a dream or reality there is a totem which is a small metal object of particular characteristics.The concepts are fresh as expected from a director of his caliber and requires absolute concentration to fully comprehend what is going on.DiCaprio is assigned one last job of embedding an idea in a persons mind instead of stealing one which will grow on its own in his subconscious mind leading him to split up his fathers business empire.To do that DiCaprio needs to perform an act called Inception which he tried once before on his wife which led to her death.At 2 hours an 13 minutes of runtime Inception is an engaging watch.The set pieces are brilliantly designed and the action sequence well choreographed.The background music by Hans Zimmer is effective and the cinematography is A class by Wally Pfister providing a familiar look and feel of that we have experineced before in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.However the film could have done better to connect to an emotional level even it spend ample amount of time portraying the relationship between DiCaprio and his wife or the strained relationship between the business tycoon and his dad.In the end as before Nolan has kept the film open to interpretation a characteristic which you hate to love.Inception requires multiple viewing to appreciate the coming together of all the little pieces and the attention to detail achieved in the movie.Hope too see many more gems from Nolan in the coming years since he is just 40 and hope DiCaprio shades his tormented look that he is carrying way too long right from the Aviator till Shutter Island and gives us a Jack Dawson instead.
